5 Signs It’s Time To Clean Out The Clutter In Preparation For Summer

In the summer months when the weather is scorching hot, getting stuck into the cleaning chores is the last thing we feel like doing. By the time that warm weather arrives, we want to enjoy soaking up the sun’s rays, not spend our time indoors decluttering and cleaning. That’s why we’re sharing these 5 signs it’s time to clean out the clutter in preparation for summer.

1. Your space does not feel Zen

Your home should feel like a place of peace, so if you come home and feel overwhelmed just being in a certain room (or as an overall vibe within the home), it may be an indication that a decluttering spree is in order.

2. You can’t find items

There’s something that you’re looking for - something you’re sure you put down right there…but it’s not there. Is it under that blanket crumpled on the floor? Stuffed in a cupboard? Did you accidentally put it in the bin with the handful of rubbish you finally dumped this morning? If you’re struggling to find items in your home, this is a definite sign that it’s time to go through and ditch some clutter.

3. Your outdoor area looks like a warzone

If you’re afraid to open your pool shed to see years worth of old inflatables and pool cleaning products stacked in there, your patio is full of furniture that you no longer use, or there simply  seems to be a lot more ‘things’ outside than you last remember, it might be time to declutter. The weeks leading up to summer is the perfect time period to get outdoors and accomplish those big tasks.

4. Your wardrobe could do with a once over

With the warm weather rolling in, it’s the perfect time to check through your seasonal clothing items like winter jackets and snow gear. Are there cold weather items in your wardrobe that you haven’t worn for the past few years? Discard or donate them to make room for summer fashion.

5. The dust never settles

When clutter grows, dust has more places to hide. We often see a lot more dust during the dry summer weather, so keeping on top of dusting with a multipurpose cleaning solution and microfibre cloth early on can help keep dust levels low in your home and prevent allergy flare-ups.

You’ll be thanking yourself when you can spend your summer relaxing by the pool or chilling inside in the air conditioning because you’ve already finished cleaning and decluttering your home in advance.
