The Ultimate Spring Cleaning Checklist 2024

The Ultimate Spring Cleaning Checklist 2024

Spring is well and truly on its way in the Southern Hemisphere with the cold, wintery weather making way for the warmer, brighter seasons. It’s also that time of year when we turn towards our homes for a bit of spring cleaning - but where to begin? We’ve compiled the ultimate cleaning checklist to help you on your 2024 spring cleaning journey. Let’s begin!

1. General to-dos

It’s easiest to start with some general items to tick off your checklist, just to get the ball rolling. Completing tasks like sanitising light switches and door/cupboard handles, checking and replacing fire alarms, and cleaning down walls and baseboards are a great place to start. Downsizing is also a key component of spring cleaning, so make sure you donate or throw away any items or clutter you no longer need.

2. Check-off in the kitchen

Preparing meals in a clean kitchen is such a refreshing feeling. Revitalise your kitchen by cleaning countertops, stoves, ovens, and inside microwaves, as well as removing and disposing of any old food in your fridge or pantry. Defrosting and cleaning the freezer is another crucial spring cleaning task, as well as removing dust from the tops of high cupboards and the fridge.

3. Make your living area feel alive

Getting stuck into dusting shelves and coffee tables, cleaning light fittings, and dusting curtains and blinds can quickly transform your living space. Cleaning windows with top-notch window washing supplies will help ensure the best finish possible and an unobstructed view to the outdoors, improving light quality. Don’t forget to give your floors and carpets a good vacuum and mop as well.

4. Bathroom and laundry blitz

Yep, we’re getting into the nitty-gritty jobs now. Be sure to deep clean the shower, bathtub, vanity, mirror, and toilet, leaving them sparkling clean and looking brand new. Remove hard water stains and mold with a specialised glass cleaner and mold stain cleaner to ensure you achieve the best results. In the laundry, clean the washing machine drum and remove lint from the dryer lint trap and vent. You can also apply a tile and grout nanocoat in wet areas for an extra layer of protection.

5. Take it to the bedroom

Get your bedroom into the vibrant mood of spring by dusting furniture, blinds, and curtains, as well as vacuuming, washing bedding, and flipping the mattress.

6. Don’t forget the home office

An office space can quickly accumulate a lot of unwanted paperwork. File anything important and shred or recycle what isn’t needed. Make sure to wipe over your keyboard and mouse, dust your electronics, and do a general tidy of your desk. You may even find it helps your productivity to be in a cleaner space.

Everyone’s cleaning checklist is bound to vary as all our homes are different, but this list is a great foundation. Happy spring cleaning!
